KALI
CHAUDAS
Kali chaudas is the second
day of Diwali festival. Across India it is also known as Choti Diwali, Roop
Chaturdarshi / Roop Chaudas and Narak Chaturdashi.
As Kali Puja is performed
on this day, you need Kali Puja Samagri for Kali Pujan. The samagri are:- Agarbatti
(incense sticks), Akshata, Akshatagandha, Betel leaves with stem, Black urad
dal, Dhoop, some wood for havan, flowers, Ganga jal, Bell, Jagerry, Haldi, Hawan samagri, some aluminium foil, Kalash,
and Kali bahuli.
· In
northern India, people wake up before sunrise, have bath with cold water after which they place lighted diya to be blessed with beauty and good health. The rituals performed on ‘Roop Chaturdarsi’ emphasize
this aspect of taking care of health and wellbeing (beauty). This festival
spotlights the point of being fit and fine and also looking attractive.
· The
core essence of this occasion is to pray to the inner beauty and make it shine.

· Roop
Chaudas is a day when one should pray for both these boons i.e. a healthy and
beautiful body.
· Roop
translates to beauty and chaturdashi is the 14th day in the karthik
month of lunar calendar.
· On
this day, we worship Mahakali as she killed
Narakasura (the demon) thus signifying the victory of good over evil. Kali
Chaudas is a day to abolish laziness and evil which creates hell in our life.
